I know this is old. www.SuicideGirls.com(SG) has been around since 2001. It now operates as a social networking site.(equivalent to facebook,friendster etc.) The main ingredient in it, is it’s not-only-naked-but-emo-punk-goth-alt girls. Since the last i saw of it, SG has become a big “empire” in it’s own sense. The alternative lifestyle that is led by the suicide girls has fascinated the mainstream cohort, which in turns makes it so popular. More pictures and videos after the jump.

It’s mark on the popular culture is immense. Just look at YouTube and any search engine. A search on “suicide girls” gives back many relevant results. Not only on SG’s main platform, the internet, it has manage to break into mainstream media and even has it’s own DVD chronicling the girl’s Tour. Trailer of it just below. And that’s not the end, there are books, along with those explicit images too. Heck, SG is so popular that it even had a slight collaboration with PlayBoy. Magazines features and a clothing line, just name it.(and they might actually have it or will have it)

But, was it all about pornography? In a sense, no. The site has spawned pornography, but as well as a sanctuary for artistic nudes. And mind you, artistic nudes are a hell lot of different from pornography.(just like how www.deviantart.com community differentiate artistic and pure pornography)

Though, this does not really means i enjoy SG. The alternative lifestyle, which can be described as vulgar, wild, raw and even to the extend of sadomasochism,(there are such SG pictures that has since been removed to avoid some laws against such extremes) don’t really squeeze into my style.

And now, onto the girls. They go by some kind of nicknames followed by “Suicide”.(for example, Fracture Suicide) The lifestyle they led, is alot different from normal girls.(Big tattoos, fancy body piercings and vulgarities are definitely not a norm with girls.) Some of the more popular suicide girls has been made celebrities by SG. Overnight fame or not, they are definitely value as an icon for their lifestyle.
