Earth Hour…. featuring Sony Rolly (vs rival Miuro)

No lights at night and you might see some surprises, like a beautifully lit sky
Alot more stuffs after the JUMP.

Earth Hour is like 4days away, let’s hope this animation might allow more people to recognise the event. Do visit earthhoursingapore.blogspot.com for more information on this movement in Singapore, especially if you really like star gazing.

If you are wondering what is that weird looking gadget in the animation, it’s the Sony Rolly. Many might have seen this device jump around on YouTube, and now, here’s some information on it.

the full length commercial, retarded but kinda cool dance moves.

It features

    104×65×65mm, 300g
    1GB internal memory Connect/Charge via USB 2.0
    Bluetooth 2.0 (to receive music)
    Editable Motion (software is provided)
Battery 3.7V 1560 mAh (5:00 of music playback, 4:30 with streaming Bluetooth music, 4:00 of music and motion, 3:30 Bluetooth streaming and motion)
Music format: MP3, ATRAC, AAC up to 300+ kbps

Sony RollyIt actually dances, and is very futuristic looking. It will probably entertain it’s buyers. NO worries though, by putting in on ur desk or anything high, this robotic pet of yours have sensors to sense the edges.

So, how does it match up to it’s bigger and badder brother, the Miuro?
Miuro
The Miuro is an IPod dock, kinda different from the Rolly, which operates as an independent music device. However, they operates in the same was, grooving to the music.
The Miuro features
eight 11 lbs (5 kg)
Size 14 inches (34 cm)
Battery life approx 3-4 hours
Optional high capacity battery 6-8 hours
Main unit (around $ 930)
- Network Audio Function
- Remote control Motion Function
- Dancing and illumination
- Sweet Spot (Frontal positin) Self Positioning Function
Options
- Autonomous Motion Package (around $170)
- Remote Communication Package (around $140)
- High Capacity Battery (around $110)
- Clear top Cover (around $25)

Ok, enough of specifications, look at this video first, the Miuro vs the Rolly.

As you can see from the video, the miuro is no doubt more bulky and therefore clumsy. It lacks the flapping wings which actually makes the Rolly looks more fun. Miuro only moves around and turns rather clumsily(due to it’s size), but the Rolly makes quick spins and fun moves, you can’t really tell what it is up to next.

Sony’s Rolly is a beautiful creation, and the Miuro is a bad ass creation.
