The Passionate Love Scale

Psychologist Elaine Hatfield and sociologist Susan Sprecher devised the Passionate Love Scale three decades ago, which is still widely used today. The scary thing is, this scale provides really true results.

Anyway, this is a follow up on the article The Science of Romance, so do read up on it too :)

Think of the person you love passionately now or some one you felt that way about in the past. Thus, base your answers on when your feelings were most intense on a scale of 1(least) to 9(most).

    1. I would feel deep despair if he/her left me.
    2. Sometimes I feel I can’t control my thoughts they are obsessively about him/her.
    3. I feel happy when I am doing something to make him/her happy.
    4. I would rather be with him/her than anyone else.
    5. I’d get jealous if I though him/her were falling in love with someone else.
    6. I yearn to know all about him/her.
    7. I want him/her physically, emotionally, mentally. (LOL!)
    8. I have an endless appetite for affection from him/her.
    9. For me, him/her is the perfect romantic partner.
    10. I sense my body responding when him/her touches me.
    11. Him/Her always seems to be on my mind.
    12. I want him/her to know me-my thoughts, fear and hopes.
    13. I eagerly look for signs indicating him/her ‘s desire for me.
    14. I possess a powerful attraction for him/her.
    15. I get extremely depressed when things don’t go right in my relationship with him/her.

Use this calculator to total up your results. (just enter your results like, e.g 9+9+4, on a single line.)

Your score can range from a minimum of 15 to a maximum of 135. The higher your score, the more your feelings reflect passionate love; the items for which you picked a particularly high number indicate the components of passionate love you experience most.

This is rather straightforward, just think and answer truthfully and you will get a true answer. :D
