Many of you might have seen this eye-catching and attention grabbing commercial on the Singapore television channels. Yes this earth saving initiative is back for it’s second year and in true Singapore style, there are prizes and money to be won too.[A critic on the commercial]

Thoughts
A look on the main website shows rather little things that are offered to visitors. The first thought that came to my mind while browsing around the site was that Mediacorp do not think it’s important as the whole initiative is rather laid back in it’s effort. There is only one video, and that one video to spread the words. My feeling is that Mediacorp should not only spread the message in it’s advertisement on the TV. Mediacorp should also focus on the internet and the communities in it. SPH’s STOMP(thanks for the correction faye!), is a great start point for such message to be spread(maybe SPH and mediacorp can collaborate on this). Bloggers and community forums should also not be spared as these are the people that can actually show the world that they contributes to such efforts through their actions which they might blog about.
This initiative is about spreading the conservation passion to the masses and not giving out prizes and money to the few “green” people. It imay be possible to do it without the prizes and prize money.
THE VIDEO
Having said that, here are the few things that you can do with Saving Gaia:
- Pledge your support to the initiative by Mediacorp. (first 3000 people gets a free Envirosax Bag)
I would like to add that, if you think the Envirosax bag is nice(which i think they are, for girls), do buy it and use it for your shopping means, instead of plastic bags.
Sign up for the Saving Gaia Challenge.(Winner takes home S$10,000 cash)

I think stomp belongs to SPH and not mediacorp
um, thanks, i’ve always though stomp belongs to mediacorp haha, but nevertheless its a good platform to kickstart it.
personally i dun think stomp is a situable platform to kick start such a campaign. The content of Stomp is too tabloid.
thanks for the input!hmm, but they do have a wide base of singaporeans, which might be good exposure for it. Anyway i am seeing more stuffs like 8days with it’s green issue and channel 8 joining in the green commercials spree, it’s looking good.
stunt, you should edit the mediacorp to singapore press holding in the entry already.
