Many would not have noticed when will the opening ceremony be aired on our local Channel 5. A check on the Mediacorp website did not show the schedule for 08.08.08.(The schedule only last til 07.07.08) What’s more, a video on the Ceremony was LEAKED!

The Beijing Olympic medals. Will Singapore get one?
The 29th Summer Olympic Games Beijing 2008 Opening Ceremony will be telecast on Channel 5 ‘live’ from Beijing National Stadium on 08.08.08 at 20:08:08 after National Day Message.
The whole Opening Cermony will last thru 3.5hours minimum, so expect the show to fully end around 12MN.
However, MCS may not be showing the whole opening ceremony ‘live’ due to the fact that News 5 Tonight airs at 2130hrs.
Channel U ‘live’ telecast in Chinese is still to be decided at this moment.
As the parade of nations in Athens 2004 was introduced according to Greek alphabets, the parade of nations this time round will introduced in order of stroke count for the country’s first chinese character…eg. Singapore will be based on stroke count for XIN.

Anyway, I am really anticipating this opening ceremony. With high expectation of Beijing’s Olympics, the opening ceremony would probably be a blast. And it will probably be better than the National Day Parade(Singapore) the next day on 09.08.08.
Oh yeah, if you don’t already know, Li Jiawei will be carrying the Singapore National Flag too, so watch out for her on 08.08.08 ![]()

On the local ground of Beijing though, there was an uproar over a South Korean journalist’s sneaky filiming attempt of a 1min video of the rehearsals for Beijing Olympics 2008 Opening Ceremony, which is classified as Top Secret in the country itself.
Must have been a security lapse.
This video was removed from Youtube already, and was removed from LiveLeak too. Somehow the link’s working though. ITS ON YOUTUBE AGAIN!
Keep me informed if this video is no longer working, will try to find another
I don’t think the Chinese should be angry over this leak. Instead they should be proud. A sneak preview of the ceremony give a slight glimpse of what the ceremony looks like, drive up anticipations towards the ceremony, attract more awareness to the ceremony and ultimately, increase viewership of it.
Isn’t that good?

in my opinion, many people try to go to China and “gao po huai” (sabotaj). This is one of their acts I believe. That is why the security is very tight, because some people are not respecting the host.
Imagine if some guests at the wedding ceremony openly humilate the bride, shouldn’t some security guys kick them out?
Anyways, the leak is not good because it “dilutes” this event. Would you enjoy a movie when someone show you the plot spoiler already? No.
I am not happy with this leaking. It is mean to be shown only at the opening ceremony.
