Yves Henri Donat Mathieu Saint Laurent (what a long name!) was an iconic figure in the fashion industry helming his own label of YSL, which means Yves Saint Laurent. He died on June 1, 2008 from the effects of brain cancer, at his residence in Paris.
This particular Photoshoot was widely seen as a tribute to YSL, as his death has just happened recently.
The emotion, the drama portrayed in this cemetery shoot, shows the “mourning” of a close one that has past away. The reluctance, the cries, the blank stares and the sadness, were dramatic and tells the photo story well.
The photos unfold in black and white images, which gives the feel of a funeral where wearing black is a norm and it also enhance the “gloomy” feelings in the photos.
