The Prem Binister just said that he doesn’t think the world will be in a global recession and the current economic crisis may only last a year. But then the Gahmen also said last time that Singapore won’t be affected because our economy was ‘decoupled’. How are we to really believe what they say? After all, just last year, the Minister Dementor said that Singapore was in a “golden period”.

But as the economy sinks to even newer depths, the Gahmen still stands by M&M Lee’s words.
According to a spokesman for his office, Mr. Lau Lee Khong, “As you know, M&M Lee is never wrong about things. Likewise, despite the worsening economy, the country is still experiencing a ‘golden period.’”
It all depends, said Mr. Lau, on how we understand what “golden period” means, specifically how we interpret the word “period”.
“If it means a glorious, wonderful time of progress and prosperity, then I can see how some people might get the wrong impression,” he conceded.
However, he said, “If we understand the term “golden period” to be a time when we’re bleeding gold every bleddy month, then you’ll know that M&M Lee was right all along.”
This interpretation of “golden period” is especially true, Mr. Lau explained, when you have a country full of “rich chee b**s”.
M&M Lee was not available to comment personally because doctors are still trying to fathom how he could have a pacemaker installed when he has no heart.
