Whoa, with the multi million player transfers taking place recently, the most significant object on the field, has undergone it’s own extensive engineering program too.

So what has Nike perfected in this ball? Let’s find out, in point form:
1) Better visibility of the ball as it creates “flicking” images as it spins. This will help in dull or cloudy weather. This part is probably for the Goalkeepers advantage.
2) With a tri-layered ball, Nike has managed to increase the range of the ball projection when a kick is applied on it. It’s about 3 times more the normal range of a soccer ball.
3) The 360 Sweet Spot. It basically means, whichever part of the ball you hit, you will do a banana kick. Just joking, but i don’t really understand about this, which nike claims that:
“360 Sweet Spot” refers to the way the ball reacts to being kicked. Usually, footballs have a “sweet spot,” like the “meat” of a baseball bat, that you’re trained to hit for maximum speeds, accuracy, etc. Apparently the T90 Ascente doesn’t have a “sweet spot,” per se, rather that the whole ball is a sweet spot. That is, wherever you kick it, the ball will react as if you’ve kicked the sweet spot.
4) Micro textured ball surface enable lesser air resistance and what’s not. This allows the ball to travel faster. Damn, just look at the video. I thought only airplanes and cars goes through wind tunnels. Now, even a ball does that, cool.
What i really think is that, this ball will provide a better feedback to who ever who touches it. With ever possible technology infused into the ball, it will probably give you a different experience from the balls you have been kicking(not the human balls though).
But it comes at a price, US$140 worth of it.
You can also catch it in action in the upcoming Spainish’s La Liga and English Premier League and Italy’s Serie A seasons.
