Spence Associates’ plans to build the country’s tallest bridge were expected to win approval from Sunderland City Council this week — five years after the architect won an RIBA competition to design it

Construction is due to start in 2012 and last for two years.

While the song is ridden with connotations of “brown” > “yellow”, I thought that the lyrics was rather hilarious and it didn’t really criticises the yellow race much. I thought that it was more of a music video about a lonely indian guy, haha! Jump for the lyrics!

I have been reading Singapore‘s history for a few days now.

The very in-depth book, Singapore: A Biography, is a recommended read for all Singaporeans, no, it’s a necessary read for all Singaporeans

Okay, that is actually not the point of this post. What I was going to show you is, the beauty of the modern and cosmopolitan Singapore.

Singapore Flyer
The Singapore Flyer is currently the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. Described by its operators as an observation wheel[1], it reaches 42 stories high, with a total height of 165 m (541 ft), and is 5 m (16 ft) taller than the Star of Nanchang and 30 m (98 ft) taller than the London Eye.

Singapore Botanical Garden (i think it should be right)
The Singapore Botanic Gardens is a dynamic and living monument to the foresight of the founding fathers of Singapore. Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore and a keen naturalist, established the first botanical and experimental garden on Government Hill (Fort Canning Hill) in 1822, shortly after his arrival in Singapore. He aimed to introduce cultivation of economic crops such as cocoa and nutmeg.

St James Power Station
Built in 1927, it was Singapore’s first coal-fired power plant supplying electricity to nearby shipyards, industry and residences.
Today, St James Power Station is a music and nightlife venue in the HarbourFront area of the Bukit Merah Planning Area, Singapore, near VivoCity.

Chijmes (My guess)
The history of Chijmes is a marvellous mosaic. It reveals beautifully that love does in fact conquer all. Its odyssey from struggling convent school to resplendent living history was never easy, but then most worthwhile journeys are always challenging. Chijmes was once the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ), established in 1854.
Today, it’s a place of fine dining and a relaxing nightlife.

Looks more like a Balinese themed massage but well, that’s Cosmopolitan Singapore.

Swissôtel Singapore
Swissôtel The Stamford at 226 metres with 73 floors, is the tallest hotel in the south of Asia and the eighth tallest hotel in the world. The hotel is also the seventh tallest building in Singapore. It is located within the Raffles City complex and has 1,263 rooms, the most of any hotel in Singapore.

The stormtrooper in guise is Dannychoo, author of one of the most successful blog in Japan, and probably the most successful otaku blog in the world.

Raffles Place seem to be the location of choice for PR stunts, marketing gimmcks, and well, attention addicts — we’ve seen the flash mob dance by HTC, and now a solitary figure pops out in the center of Singapore’s business district to shake some heads and roll some eyes. Danny Choo, better known as the “Dance Tokyo Trooper” in blogging circles, made a special appearance all decked out in full Star Wars attire.

Danny Choo runs one of the most widely read English blogs in Japan at www.dannychoo.com, where he writes about Japanese pop culture, anime-related stuff and life in Tokyo. One of his more famous acts was dressing up as a Stormtrooper from Stars Wars and dancing in various parts of Tokyo, and obviously the organizers of AFA’09 convinced him to get out his Storm Trooper costume for a spot of publicity.

At ANA’09, Danny will be speaking at the Asian Animation Conference as one of the key speakers on how companies could engage the anime generation and more. At the actual event itself, he would also be hosting several events as well, such as well as a showcase of his Mirai-chan related merchandise.

It’s quite an elaborated setup too.

For the viewers that have absolutely no clues or whatsoever, this is a group of students from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, trying to create a new bus stop in their school, which apparently, succeeded.
Yeah.

This is a far better remix of Singapore’s theme song for this year’s National Day Parade. I think it connects to our uniquely unique culture, more than the original version.

There are some hidden connotations in the video, like “reaching the milky way” and then the screen shows Geylang. Lol. Trust Mr Brown to do up such a nice video.

I won’t talk much more about this as it’s already been reviewed. But it’s a really BIG kit that I’ve won. BIG headphones in a BIG box.
